While attending the University of Georgia, John McAlister owned a carpet cleaning business in Athens. He sold it in the early 80’s so he could focus more on his studies and complete his business degree. John was fortunate to be mentored by some of Athens’ finest business owners. This is how he realized that he enjoyed working with family-owned companies. He moved to Atlanta in the latter half of the 80’s to work alongside some of America’s premier business advisors. John has advised hundreds of family-owned enterprises with their EXIT strategy plans – whether to family, employees, or third parties.
Our Purpose
An owner of a successful family enterprise derives their most significant net worth through the actual value of the business. The business value can represent 60% to over 80% of their TOTAL net worth! Yet many business owners have business and Estate documents that are woefully outdated or non-existent. During a business owner’s lifetime, they will experience at least one succession process event. Without proper knowledge and a complete review and understanding of your options, a lifetime of work can be threatened by divorce, a business partner or spouse’s death, or even an industry consolidation.
